About Us
Introduction
The eleven representative members from various religions in Myanmar attended to represent Myanmar at the Regional Interfaith Dialogue Meeting held in New Zealand from May 28 to 30 of 2007. After that, they realized that Interfaith Dialogue Group (Myanmar) should be formed in Myanmar as well.
Therefore, in order to officially form and operate the Interfaith Dialogue Group, a letter dated November 29, 2007 signed by Ambassador U Hla Maung himself was submitted to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture. Upon this submission, Department for the Promotion and Propagation of Sasana of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture replied that the group was allowed to form informally according to the letter dated January 30, 2008.
So, like-minded people from the four major religions who have attended at least one time out of six Regional Interfaith Dialogne meetings formed informally the Interfaith Dialogue Group on January 30, 2008. In order to carry out the activities of the group systematically and comprehensively, a first draft of the Scheme was drawn up and approved by the central executive meeting held on August 6, 2013. However, according to the state’s transformative various conditions and challenges, as the state’s comprehensive development tasks have expanded, in order for the activities of Interfaith Dialogue Group to develop at a balanced pace and to make the operating system correct, this new Scheme was drawn up and approved in 2016.
